La Rivière aux Brochets
A circuit that carrries you for a distance of approximately
29 kilometres
Aleisurely ride along the Rivière aux Brochets (Pike
River)
Minimum degree of difficulty…
- Your starting point is the Métro
grocery store parking lot on rue Principale in Bedford. Municipal
parking is also available at St-Damien church.
- Turn left on
Du Pont street, at the intersection of routes 202 and 235.
- Cross
the Zéphir-Falcon Bridge and turn left. You
are now on chemin Mystic.
- Follow this road until you come to
Mystic’s famous
12-sided barn and L’Oeuf, the renowned restaurant and
B & B. Go to Walbridge Street, which changes to rang St.-Charles.
- Straight
ahead, when you come to rang de L’Ange-Gardien,
follow this road up to rang Saint-Henri and take a right. You
are now in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge.
- Cross the bridge and turn
left on rue Principale. Notice the pretty Catholic church
on your right.
- Ride on until you reach the cemetery. Make
a left turn on chemin de la Rivière.
- On your left, you
will come upon a covered bridge dating back to 1884. Cross
it and make a sharp right turn and then a left on rang Duquette,
(a dirt road). You have now arrived in the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Véronne-à-Pike
River (such a formally long name for such a tiny spot!)
- At the
route 202 cross road, go right towards the Pike-River church.
- Be
careful as you cross route 133! Ride along chemin du Moulin
next to the Le Déli-Cieux restaurant.
- Turn left on chemin
Tougas.
- Cross at the 133 intersection and follow
chemin Galipeau directly ahead.
- Go on to chemin Saint-Henri
to your right to end up in Stanbridge Station.
- Take chemin
Corriveau, (a dirt road) on your left.
You will be circling
the de Graymont Inc. quarry. While you ride, take in the
splendid view of the mountains! Turn left on to chemin Philipsburg.
This road will take you back into Bedford.
